REVIEW OF WORK

EXPLOIT THE TECHNOLOGIES AVAILABLE IN BLOGGER: IMAGE,  VIDEO, AUDIO

You should have evidence of RESEARCH and PLANNING so far. Some of you are already providing evidence of the third stage, CONSTRUCTION. We have also decided to prepare for our four EVALUATION questions by having separate 'pages' at the top of our personal blogs for each question as it is time-efficient to keep a record of (for example) the technologies we are using during the production as we go along.

RESEARCH
Genre research into codes and conventions of the music video: Prezi on Andrew Goodwin's theoretical framework with illustrations of all his points and some close analysis of at least 3 music videos of different styles. So, clear examples of music videos where the visuals illustrate the lyrics, as well as amplify, as well as use disjuncture. Each of the conventions should be noted and illustrated  (e.g.performance use of close-ups, lip synching).

'The Work Of Director' Videos: what we watched in class: Spike Jonze, Chris Cunningham, Michel Gondry, Mark Romanek. Add the images from each cover to your post (from Amazon)
.

Thirty Frames A Second (to come)

Stars and how they are constructed (Richard Dyer)

Genre research into digipacks with illustrations, annotations; explanation of their function in the music industry as commercial adverts; how they link to the bands / artists themselves. Explanation of the function of magazine advertisements and why they must refect the digipack and band. In what ways do bands promote themselves?

Have you seen music videos that inspire you personally? Write about them.

What new technologies help you research? Give an account of how you use Twitter, for example. Our class blog describes its uses here.

Provide evidence that you have reserched your artist. Who are their target audience? How do they communicate with their audiences? Do they have a website, Twitter feed, MySpace page, FaceBook presence? What's their brand identity?

Design: What do their digipacks look like? How do they dress for performance? Colours, fonts?

PLANNING
Evidence that you have sought permission from the owner of the track.

Your Treatment (se the post here).

Your Lyrics: ideally with notes next to each line showing how you're cutting to the beat (as Richard did)
Your Storyboard, with clear evidence of shot types, camera movement (use arrows)
Your Animatic in iMovie, Premiere How to do an Animatic

List of specific responsibilities: who is directing, casting, managing the shoots, taking responsibility for props / costumes / equipment? Who is editing, and what are they editing? Who takes responsibilty for what part of planning and construction?

Invent the name of your album. Invent the other names of the other tracks.

Decide on art work: what photography, fonts, layout, colours will you use? Provide evidence of sketches, lists, font choices, audience feedback.

Evidence that you have planned music studio shoots, stage and lighting shoots (in the form of screenshots of emails to the head of Drama, Music, Photography)

Planning shots of frames, locations: these could be on your phone camera
Jonny, Joe and Richard had a good idea of blocking out stage performance positions using Post It notes and taking still shots today.
Ben had a good idea of a full rehearsal with tracking, camerawork, lighting and sound last week.
