CREATING YOUR FILM POSTER

We use our research and planning to create our film posters. We have already done the principal photography, based on or research and planning, so today and tomorrow we use Photoshop to create the ancillary product.

Remember that deconstructing the poster is with one main aim in mind:
evaluation q.2 How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

= The poster must make a clear visual link with the film (and radio trailer).

You have already analysed the principal codes and conventions of both feature film posters and short film film posters; you have sketched out your designs and done the photography. Your job for the evaluation question is:
  • to demonstrate how effectively your poster showcases the genre and narrative (characters & plot) of your film,
  • how persuasive it is in attracting your target audience,
  • how the visuals address your target audience
  • how informative (release dates, contact information, director, actors, production company, Twitter, Facebook)
