EVALUATION QUESTION 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Here is one way of presenting your explanation:
Remember that you have 3 products, so you will deconstruct / critically evaluate each separately.
1.Start with the short film. Draw on the research into short film codes and conventions, linking very explicitly your research and your outcome. Use, for example, a presentational tool that places two images side by side (professional product and your version). Integrate theory. Give a large number of comparisons / contrasts covering, for instance,
  • production company logo
  • film title
  • credits
  • establishing shot
  • the narrative: characters / casting choices
  • the narrative: plot
  • the narrative: mise-en-scene / set
  • sound track / music
  • edits (several examples)
  • the twist / reveal
Integrate theoretical frameworks where appropriate, such as Levi-Strauss (binary opposites), Todorov (equilibrium / disequilibrium), Barthes (visual codes, the language of signs), Propp (character types).
