CONSTRUCTION: ANCILLARIES

This week, you are resuming work on your 2 ancillary productions:

  • film poster (10 marks)
  • film magazine cover (10 marks)

Put all your work up into the correct 'page' at the top of your blog in order:

  • Headings in caps for each: MY FILM POSTER, DECONSTRUCTING MY FILM POSTER, DEVELOPMENT OF MY FILM POSTER, RESEARCH INTO FILM POSTERS (same for film magazine cover)
  • Final product goes first at the top
  • Below, a deconstruction of its codes and conventions (as in your research). Could you make a big deal of this by, for instance, presenting it in YuDu with different background images?
  • For level 4 marks in the last task, include theoretical frameworks applied (e.g. Barthes, Blumler & Katz, Dyer)
  • Audience research for each production
  • Immediately below that, the development of your poster / magazine cover
  • Remember to take screenshots of the different stages of work
  • Finally, evidence of your research into the poster genre / the magazine cover genre

Presentational tools:

  • Once you have done all this, look back: did you present your deconstruction of your own 2 products using YuDu, in two slick presentation that showcase your design decisions? That draw in theory?
  • How have you included Audience research for each production? See next point.
  • The marking criteria for a level 4 mark (16-20 marks) reads: " Excellent understanding of issues around audience, institution, technology, representation, forms and conventions in relation to production."
  • Look on this work as essential spadework for your 4 Evaluation questions in which you will have to provide evidence for each of your 3 productions on their genre codes & conventions, feedback (eg. before / after pics), the synergy of the whole marketing package and the technologies used).
